Continuous Positive Airway Pressure use remains as the most effective treatment when  it comes to relieving oneself of sleep apnea. While the use of CPAP machines have been proven useful to relieve sleep apnea and bring forth comfort in one’s life style as CPAP users get to sleep more and rest better, not everyone is welcoming of the idea of using such machines every time they sleep through the years. Usually, the use of the mask alone intimidates people and gives them a sense of discomfort just by thinking about it. If you are one of these new users who find it pretty hard to adjust, well, we offer you these tips in order to become more comfortable with your CPAP use:

 (1) Practice makes perfect

Many find it difficult to adjust and get the perfect fit the first few times that they try the mask on. Some find the attachment of a foreign object to them as they sleep a bit too smothering, others are just not used to the bulkiness. Then again, when they get used to it, they get to appreciate the comfort of using the CPAP and they are able to sleep better. Now, if you find it uncomfortable during the first few tries, just go ahead and practice wearing it. You can practice wearing it in short periods while just sitting back and relax. You can extend these periods further and further until one day you’ll be surprised that you don’t mind it anymore.

 (2) Commit to your CPAP use

Of course, these kinds of life style changes require a lot of effort. This warrants your personal commitment to wellness and adjustments. You need to see to it that you use CPAP every time you sleep, even during naps so that you will be able to maximize its health benefits.

 (3) Make an effort to make things more comfortable for you

Adjust the mask to your liking, use strap guards and such, it is your mask after all and your comfort and wellness take priority. Find the best fit for you and for your mask and you will find that you will be more welcoming when it comes to its use.
